Tracy Friedman
After performing in nearly one hundred plays and musicals, Tracy turned her attention to staging and choreography. Her choreography credits include the national tours of ONE MO’ TIME and GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER, as well as numerous regional theatre productions. In Chicago she won the Joseph Jefferson Choreography Award for the North Light Repertory production of THE CLUB and created the original choreography for DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOES REALLY REFLECT UP? which ran for three and a half years in Chicago. Tracy was the original staging director and one of the co-creators of LIES & LEGENDS, which has been produced at the Apollo Theater in Chicago, The Pasadena Playhouse in L.A., the Center Theater in Toronto and the Village Gate in New York. These days Tracy is most often found at her computer: she is the author of two children’s books published by Scholastic, and two musicals. THE BLACK TULIP, an adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novel with music by Brian Lasser, was produced at the Center Theater in Chicago. THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, a theatrical fantasy based on songs by Randy Newman, which was conceived, written, directed and choreographed by Tracy, received its original production at the Wisdom Bridge Theater in Chicago under the auspices of Robert Falls. It went on to receive critically acclaimed productions at the Astor Place Theater in New York, the Philadelphia Theater Company and the Dallas Theater Center. Tracy currently lives and works in Los Angeles where she has written for numerous television series including Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman; Murder, She Wrote; Time Trax; The Adventures of Brisco County; Jr.; and The New Adventures of Flipper.
